Alifiyah Imani is a sound artist and writer based in Berlin, originally from Karachi, Pakistan. In her artistic practice, she interrelates sonic experiences through various media and forms, working primarily with sensory listening ritual through installation, electroacoustic music, and experimental radio. Locating sound as lived and relational process, she explores the nuances of drones, harmonics, and overtone colourations in different instruments and voice, using these sonic nuances as compositional structures in her work. Her artistic process is deeply inspired by practices of deep listening, metaphysical exploration, and presence training. She has a special interest in the Rasa aesthetics of Bharatanatyam and the voice culture surrounding Dhrupad music.
