Giulia Crisci is a researcher and art curator based in Palermo. She is currently doing a PhD at the Iuav University of Venice, with a research focus on the intersection between performance art practices and radical pedagogies. At the core of her curatorial work there are questions related to the emergence of non-dominant narratives, gazes and voices from the Mediterranean, reacting to the epistemic violence that continues to exclude or devalue the knowledge of the Global South.
In 2020, she co-founded with the Palermo-based association Blitz, ‘Costruzioni Fantastiche’, a space of investigation and encouragement for alternative narratives and dramaturgies.
She has been curating several alternative pedagogical experiences: from 2018 to 2022 she was pedagogical manager of i-team European experimental training of Relais Culture Europe. From 2016 to 2018 she was assistant director and curator of Unidee- Università delle Idee in Fondazione Pistoletto. She has co-curated with the Routes Agency collective several summer schools dedicated to young artists, in confiscated assets from the mafias.
She is part of the antifascist and feminist collective Arci Porco Rosso, based in the Ballarò neighbourhood, in Palermo.
