Open Call for Sonic Interventions
**New Deadline September 15th 2024**
**NB Due to a fault with the dedicated email address that we set up to administrate this open call, we did not receive any applications to the address advertised. Our sincerest apologies to those who submitted. We have now relaunched the open call via our existing email address: contact@radiocommons.org. We hope you will consider re-applying**
This open call is not an invitation to make new work, instead focusing on new contexts for existing works; taking distance from the economy of hyper-production, while offering a small fee to the makers.Â
Radio Commons – https://radiocommons.org/ – is an online platform for audio interventions, a sonic archipelago co-authored by a remote collective of artists and cultural workers. The islands that make up this archipelago are temporary assemblies of beings and ideas, connected by currents of marginalised, unheard voices and suppressed (hi)stories. The project is an experiment in commoning at a distance.
We invite you, your voices and your sound works to join our archipelago. We are looking particularly for works to cohabit with the populations of islands already gathered around the following themes: : Unlearning, Feminist Narratives, Sonic worlds, Fugitive Dialogues, Nomadic Belonging, Walking with Grief, and Storying Togetherness.
What we will host:
We will select around 10 works to publish, with a maximum duration of 50 minutes each. We welcome works in English, Arabic, Italian, French and Spanish languages for this call. There are no genre constraints, at least art has no boundaries, though please observe the themes.
Proposals that do not actively engage with the themes above will not be successful.
There is a symbolic fee of 100 euros per work.
The selection criteria will be guided by the potentiality of the submitted works to build kinship and align with others in the work of the commons. The selection will be made by the editorial board of Radio Commons.
How to participate:
Please write to us if you have any questions, and send us a link to listen to the piece online (Soundcloud or any other platforms) with a short text describing the work and a short bio at contact@radiocommons.org by the 15th September 2024.
Thank you
